Is whippet agility training doable? Is it worth it? Watch these videos and find out for yourself!

I love to watch these videos, everything seems to be so easy and effortless. Only when I tried to do it myself I realized how much work and dedication agility requires.

Whippet are fast, smart and have a diabolical ability to find extracurricular entertainment in the blink of an eye.

These challenging dogs will test your mind and patience but they’ll repay you with unsurpassed elegance and speed.

After the first success you’ll be hooked!

There are a lot of perfectly good reasons to start your own backyard agility class.


1 You are ready to go beyond basic training.

2 You are looking for a fun activity to practice with your whippet.

3 You don’t have a dog agility class in your area.

4 You’re not sure if you or your dog would like this sport.

5 Your whippet gets easily distracted and you would like a quiet environment to start this activity.

6 You are not willing to invest in professional agility training.


With a little ingenuity you can assemble some homemade dog agility equipment or buy the basic dog agility equipment to start your dog agility training at home.



Trying imaginative dog agility supplies and obstacles will keep you dog interested and the game entertaining.

Carton boxes can make a tunnel and a broom stick an obstacle, your creativity is the limit.


Here are a few tips for whippet agility training.

-at the beginning use a leash to hold contact with your whippet,

-keep the obstacles low and easy,

-always maintain an upbeat attitude,

-reward even the smallest success with food or play,

-allways end any session on a happy note, before your dog gets tired.

Of course, things are not always this smooth, whippets can be rather independent, willful and try your patience.

Your whippet will be your teacher, you’ll learn patience, humility and how to outsmart a very fast dog.
