CoCo

by Susan
(Baton Rouge, La.)

I adopted a 3-year old dog from local animal control. I knew she had some greyhound blood, but her nose did not fit. It wasn't long and narrow. But I kept telling people she was mix greyhound and walker hound. But the walker hound did not fit either. She is "as fast as lightning".

I came across whippet on the internet and my heart bounced. It is my CoCo. She is tan/brown with black nose, white toes. She does not bark and does not run after a ball or toy. She is very lovable and attached to me quickly. She has some vocabulary words when I got her: ride in truck, outside, sit, stay, no. We are scheduled to begin obedience training next week. She had to have been abused because she is afraid of the broom, noises, and being assaulted.

She was in the animal control environment for a year, but was with other dogs in a large area. She doesn't like other dogs near me. She does not bark, but will growl if my brother's lab gets near me.

I look forward to the newsletter and learning more about this magnificent animal.
