I have. Chi-Whippet
by: Anonymous

I have a chiwhippet and she is absolutely beautiful, loves you to no end and loves to play with toys and snuggle with you. She has an elegant air about her and is very dainty when she sits and crosses her long legs. She leaps like a deer and looks like a fawn. I absolutely adore her. She is very smart and learns things very quick. They keep you on your toes and love you so unconditionally!

My baby is the same
by: Anonymous

We adopted a pup from a rescue in late fall and we knew he was a Chihuahua mix but with what was a mystery. I had to do some research. He is the sweetest, cuddle. Loves being under the covers or in your lap but there is this other side. We’d had him for about 4 months and always taken him for walks but he was never "leash free" outside. First relatively nice day I took him to the dog park. I took off his leash and at first he stuck close but as he got more comfortable he would go flying around the fenced area then run back to me, like to check and off he went again. It was sheer joy. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

Chi-whippet
by: Memo

We also found a female chihuahua mix who was dumped at a dog park. We were going to foster her until she was adopted but after a few weeks decided to keep her. That was 7 years ago. She is very sweet, and smart but a bit hard headed. She can jump about 4 ft off the ground and runs like the wind. Several vets have said she may be part whippet.

I'm so happy read your story

I'm so glad!!!

I was second to rescue Mr Snuqui and he is just like Henry in every detail.

I thought he was an ''Italian Greyhuahua'' at first, now he is a service dog - best ever

Was my boy a whippet?
by: Laura

We had Elvis for 13 years. I was told that he was a Chihuahua mix. He was always very thin, not in a sickly way either. He was calm, a little gentlemen. I miss him. He waa never a bother. He was the most perfect companion.

Hank
by: Diana

My son went to a rodeo and ran into a lady who had a box full of "oops" puppies. Their mom, a full bred Chihuahua, got out one night and as the story goes...ya da, ya da, ya da.
My son brought one of the males home. We named him Hank. He was sweet and adorable and potty trained within a week or so. We did not have a clue about his dad, but he started to grow long and then longer legs. My kids called him "the Weir Wolf."
Our son-in-law said he looked like a Whippet, so I looked up Chihuahua-Whippet mix and could have sworn I saw a picture of him on their website. Also, his personality matched the description on the website to a tee. When he runs around our large backyard, he leaves our Jack Russell in the dust, if you can imagine that. Everyone who comes over wants to take him home...he just captures your heart! We love our Hank and we are so glad his mom "got out one night!"

How Sancho found his home.
by: Jessie

After 12 amazing years with my pure bred boxer Avril, she passed away in May of 2014.
Around Christmas I decided I was ready for a new dog and my cousin had basset/blue Heeler crosses ready to find their forever home, so I brought home the runt, and she was precious.
That same day a little male stray dog showed up at our house. I put food out and let him sleep on the porch. He had no tags and his paws were worn from being on the streets. I couldn't stand it so I took him in and after finding no owner decided to keep him.
I ended up giving the new pup to my son, she, Annabel, fell in love with him and our new little man Sancho took to me right away, he is the dog I had been praying for. After reading your article I am sure he is also a Chi-Whippt mix and he runs like the wind.
Sancho and Annabel have a ball together, I am looking forward to many years with my new buddy!!

Rescue chippet
by: barbara p.

Recently was fortunate enough to get another rescue dog from Alabama. What a blessing! She is four years old and looks like a large fawn-colored Chihuahua on a greyhound body. Her long legs let her jump and run like a racehorse. She is one of the sweetest dogs ever and very, very smart. So thankful there is such a breed.

Chihuahua/whippet mix
by: Barbara

My new rescue dog is part Chihuahua and part whippet. She does not shed, is gentle, rarely barks, and wants to be a twenty-pound lap dog. She is absolutely wonderful. What a great mix!

Happy
by: Beverly Ginestra

Hi, I found a stray 2 mos old puppy out in our walnut orchard. She was only 4 lbs, very timid, but a loving puppy. She loves to run! She does circles around my 105 lb american bulldog and when she wants to play or gets excited she runs! The vet told me she is a chihuaha/terrior mix but someone told me they think she is part chihuaha/whippet due to her long legs, thin body, timid personality. She looks exactly like happy but younger. Can you tell me how old Happy was in that photo? Also, did you ever find out her breed? Bonnie is now 4 mos old and 7 lbs. Her color, legs, ears are exactly like Happy but she's much smaller and thinner.

Poncho
by: Jackie

We adopted Poncho a couple of weeks ago. He is so full of life and settled in with our two Great Pyrenees very nicely. We also have two cats that aren't quite sure of him because he is SO fast. We love him dearly and still potty training but he seems to catch on,. by the way he is just 8 months old.

Chi-Whippet
by: Mark

Hi Yall,
I rescued a 4yr old chi-whippet for the humane society, his name is Dobby (like off of Harry Potter) and he is the most amazing dog, loves to cuddle and sleep under the covers with me and full of energy and lots of kisses.

When we go to the dog park he likes to get the big dogs to chase him, always leaves them with there tongue dragging the ground.

I never thought I could fall for a small dog, having sporting breeds most of my life, but this little guy stole my heart.

My Zoe
by: Anonymous

I have what I think may be a chihuahua-whippet mix.

I know for sure about the chihuahua part, but not sure about the whippet part.

She is smart, uses her front feet to play with her ball like a cat, runs like a gazelle and loves to go for her walks.

She has long legs and a lean body like a whippet...and also snuggles under the blankets when she sleeps.

All I know is that she is a chihuahua mix of some kind, but she does resemble a whippet in many ways!!

Another Chi-Whippet Fan
by: mitzidee

I too have a Chi-Whippet. His name is Teddy. He came into my life at just the right time.

My Golden Retriever Liam was gravely ill and when I came home from work one night, this little tan long-legged dog came running up to me like he knew me.

He too was clearly starving so I brought him in, gave him something to eat and drink and went to check on Liam.

When I found Liam, it was obvious something was wrong. I immediately took him to the emergency vet, but unfortunately his condition had deteriorated and I had to have him put to sleep.

What a horrible night.

When we got back from the vet, Teddy was asleep under a blanket (he loves to do that). I put up signs in an attempt to find an owner to no avail.

He was just what I needed to keep my mind off of the loss of Liam. Other than a problem with chewing the first few weeks/months, he has been a great dog.

He house trained quickly. When I took him to the vet to be vaccinated and neutered, I asked him if they could tell me what breed he was because I had never seen a dog like him before.

The vet told me based on his physical appearance, he appeared to be the cross of a chihuahua and whippet.

He is a joy and runs so fast sometimes you cannot see his paws touch the ground.

Chi-Whippet Mix
by: Glenda

We have not had our dog tested for the breed, but we are pretty sure he is a chihuahua-Whippet Mix.

I fell in love with this dog at the pound. She was so gentle and quiet. She had just had pups and then I guess the original owner gave her up, which was luck for me.

She runs super fast and likes to cuddle. The thing I like most about her is that she loves us so much too!

She smiles when we get home from work and loves to go on walks or runs everyday. She warmed up to us and was potty trained in just a day or two. We truly love her.

I don't have a chi-whippet mix but I do have a regular whippet.

Mandy,my whippet is so fun to watch when she runs too. Me and my family were amazed at the elegant dog run!

Mandy also has a kinda cool story too, which I will soon write about the next time I post something.
