Arlie R

(Seattle, WA )

I'd never had a dog before but I decided that I wanted one.

I initially wanted an Australian Cattle Hound because I liked their looks, but I also wanted to rescue a dog from the pound so I started cruising the local pounds on a regular basis hoping I would "click" with the right dog for me.

I found R on about my 4th pound trip. He was a funny little black dog tinged with white. He had over sized ears and eyes and reminded me of little wild dogs I had seen in Indonesia.

He was two and a half and was an owner surrender. 8 years later we are still best friends and I love him to death.

He is the smartest little guy, he's learned a lot of tricks and commands and I can talk to him like a person and he understands.

I say "R, get off the couch ok?" and he jumps down. He loves to please, can run like the wind and is so cute I rarely take him out without someone wanting to interact with him.
