Whippet Dog of the Day: Life Goes On

Time to rest now, come get comfy
I was in a car accident a year ago.
I have spent more than a year recovering and haven't been able to work or spend time doing my hobbies.
I have spent most of the time going to doctor's appointments and resting on the sofa.
I lost my, old lab several months ago and since he was the perfect dog I decided to switch breeds and get a whippet.
Mostly because they get good health ratings and are good in apartments. Also, I volunteer with Alzheimer's and dementia patients and they get good ratings for doing that kind of thing...
Wow, I had no idea what I was in for. I now have this little, gentle creature to keep me company while I rest and have walked and been outside more in two weeks than I have in a year.
While I thought pet therapy would be good for the elderly I had no idea what full time pet therapy would do for me!
I didn't think another dog could hold my heart like my lab did, but in two weeks this little one has captured it!
I have learned that life goes on. You must take steps forward...even baby puppy steps...I am happier and more vibrant as a result of having this little whippet in my life.
She is so gentle and full of life and demands engagement. I never thought I would ever get a dog that needs clothes but I am a fashion designer (pre-accident).
I have found myself laughing gleefully over the sweater I made for my dog and the little tiny felted hat she will be sporting come fall.
I am grateful for those little eyes and the cuddle bug that has given a whole new meaning to my life.
